Last week, Spotify suddenly removed Dr. Drew’s February 2024 interview with Jimmy Dore, claiming the podcast episode – which discussed CIA involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine – was in “violation of its content policies.”
Following days of inquiries, the platform finally reversed its decision and restored the episode. However, Candace Owens hasn’t been as lucky, and continues to be suspended by YouTube after posting an interview with Kanye West (Ye) that many labelled anti-semitic. Private companies are free to allow or ban anyone they want – but when they claim to moderate with fairness and balance, and to fight against all forms of discrimination… are they being truthful?
