In the 2016 article “The Case For American Secession”, Michael Malice argued for a dissolution of the United States, which he says “has spent very few years truly unified”. The idea of a “National Divorce” has only gained more prominence with recent statements by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who suggests dividing the country into Republican “red” states and Democratic “blue” states.
But breaking apart the USA would be unconstitutional. Would splitting the USA across ideological lines help or harm the future of the country?
