Kitty Bruce is the daughter of cultural icon, Lenny Bruce. She is promoting a newly re-issued DeCapo Press printing of “How To Talk Dirty And Influence People” by Lenny Bruce with new foreword by Howard Reich and Preface by Lewis Black.

Born in Los Angeles, Kitty was just 11 years old when her famous father died of an overdose in their Hollywood Hills home.  She has been known to keep memories and mementoes of her father private but because 2016 marks the 50th year since Lenny Bruce died, there have been many tributes and activities honoring the memory of Lenny Bruce with Kitty Bruce participating.

Kitty recently decided to donate archival material to Brandeis University in Boston for a two-day conference in late October 2016 called “Comedy and the Constitution.”  https://lennybruceofficialcom.wordpress.com/archives/

Brandeis University acquired Kitty Bruce’s personal papers, photographs, manuscripts and news clippings among other memorabilia that will now become part of the Robert D. Farber Archives and Special Collections.  A generous grant from the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation made the acquisition possible.

Kitty Bruce appeared together with Kelly Carlin and Rain Pryor on stage at the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in Jamestown, NY earlier this summer to honor the 50th anniversary of the passing of Lenny Bruce. The roundtable was filmed as part of a series of retrospective discussions hosted by the National Comedy Center, the first cultural institution dedicated to art and the celebration of comedy. Kitty Bruce also appeared with Kelly Carlin and Rain Prior in the FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) 2016 documentary “Can We Take A Joke?”

Kitty Bruce is the founder and CEO of The Lenny Bruce Memorial foundation a 501(c)(3) charity that provides scholarships for people in need of treatment for alcohol and drug abuse. The Lenny Bruce Memorial Foundation also provides

education, tools, skills and ongoing encouragement designed to help men and women in recovery.
