Exclusive: ex NBA player Royce White tells Dr. Drew of the brave and stunning journey to become a woman who is fully eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft – if the Left’s worldview about trans people and self-ID is correct.
Currently using the name Roysha White, the athlete has joined the controversy over biological men in the female category of sports – and the WNBA’s inability to define what a “woman” really is.
If the WNBA denies him the chance to play with his chosen gender, Royce says it would be “tantamount to gen**ide.” His plan is to hold the league to the values it publicly claims – tolerance, inclusiveness, inclusivity – and that support for his bid has been strong privately even if public backing is “still a work in progress.”
White declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft in August 2026, hours after former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom announced the same intention. The WNBA collective bargaining agreement states that only players who are women are eligible to play, but the league has not published a definition of who qualifies.
