Dr. Drew talks Amanda Bynes’ psychiatric hold

Amanda Bynes has been placed on a 5150, an involuntary psychiatric hold for mental analysis.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reported that the former child star was involved in a disturbance in a neighborhood in Thousand Oaks, CA.
The incident apparently began Monday night with an emergency call to the fire department that a gas can was burning in a residential driveway, Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Scott Dettorre said.
“Deputies investigated the incident and determined that she met the criteria of 5150 … She was detained and taken for a mental health evaluation,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
On HLN Tuesday night, Dr. Drew explained, “You don’t come into a 5150 without meeting criteria for the most serious mental illness possible. That’s why you relinquish your liberties and rights and are held against your will.”
The 27-year-old actress has been caught up in other matters as of late. She currently faces three misdemeanor charges involving a bong that was allegedly tossed from her Manhattan apartment in May. She also has a driving under the influence case pending in Southern California.
