What are the long-term effects of smoking marijuana?

The long-term effects of cannabis vary from nothing to concerning effects on verbal memory and actual changes in brain anatomy. Researchers are still trying to fully understand what these anatomic changes mean. What has most researchers concerned is how these same changes that we see in adults, which appear to be completely reversible, may actually be permanent in adolescents. Like any other chemical agent we ingest to change our body chemistry, there are always risks and benefits that must be weighed.
